When you run ELLA on a learner this week
Three things happen the same session. Not next week. Not after a follow-up meeting.
01
A full skill profile in 25–40 minutes
Six categories, thirty mini-tests, real-time scoring. Audio prompts run the screener. You observe and note. No marking sheets afterwards.
02
The report is drafted for you
Strengths, gaps, ranked tests, clinical interpretation, grade-level benchmarks. Every section a parent or school asks for, drafted in the same session. You review, edit if needed, sign.
03
Intervention is in the report
ELLA names the patterns (Magic E, vowel teams, syllable segmentation), suggests the approach (Orton-Gillingham, structured literacy), and sets short and long-term targets.
Your weekend has a literacy report in it
You administer a battery of tests. You score them by hand. You sit with the data over the weekend, draft the report, send it Monday. Two parents are still waiting. The next batch is already booked.
Or you use a screener that gives you a score and a percentile, but no clinical interpretation, no intervention plan, and no language a parent will actually read.
ELLA is what happens when the screener, the report, and the plan live in one tool.
The Learning Center of America signed and sent the report the same day.
Six skills. Aligned to the science of reading.
The five Reading Rope strands plus rapid naming. Mini-tests are grade-leveled where it matters and skill-leveled where it doesn’t.
Phonological & Phonemic Awareness
7 mini-tests
Rhyme identification, rhyme generation, beginning, middle and ending sounds, syllable blending, syllable segmentation. The foundation for everything downstream
Phonics & Decoding
11 mini-tests
Letters and sounds, short and long vowels, blends, digraphs, diphthongs, Magic E, Bossy R, vowel teams, consonant-LE. The decoding engine.
Word Reading
7 mini-tests
Sight words K to 3, compound words, multi-syllabic words, and pseudowords. Tells you whether decoding is automatic or still effortful.
Encoding & Spelling
Grade K–12
Orthographic mapping across grade levels. ELLA finds the spelling grade the learner is actually working at, not the one on the timetable.
Language Comprehension
Grade K–12
Listening comprehension and reading comprehension at grade level. The other half of Scarborough’s rope, screened in the same session.
Reading Fluency + RAN
5 mini-tests
Oral reading passages, words correct per minute, and rapid automatized naming of objects, colors, letters and digits. The processing speed signal.
Hazel, Grade 3, 9 years old
Strong reasoning. Perfect comprehension. And a decoding pattern that needs a name.
Hazel B.
Grade 3 · Age 9 · Screened Feb 2026
Spelling (functioning at)
Grade 1
Hazel’s ELLA results showed perfect sight word recognition across K through Grade 3, 100% on reading comprehension, 100% on listening comprehension. Strong reasoning. Strong vocabulary. Solid letter-sound knowledge.
And syllable segmentation at 0%. Multi-syllabic decoding at 7%. Spelling at Grade 1 level (currently 2 years below grade). Fluency at 53 WCPM against a Grade 3 expectation of 90 or above.
The pattern is dyslexia. Strong comprehension paired with weak decoding. ELLA flagged it, named the cognitive systems behind it (Broca’s area, working memory, executive functioning), and generated the 12 to 18 month intervention plan with both short-term and long-term targets.
The Learning Center of America signed and sent the report the same day.
ELLA gave us in 90 seconds what would have taken three hours. The report had everything we needed to walk a parent through a dyslexia profile and start an Orton-Gillingham plan that afternoon.

Three steps. One session.
From learner intake to a clinician-ready report, in less than an hour.

Add the learner
Name, grade, country. Choose which screener mini-tests to run, or take the recommended battery for the age and grade.

2
Run the mini-tests
Audio prompts run the screener. You observe and note. Adaptive scoring stops sections that are clearly mastered, focuses on the gaps.
